As part of the Turkish-German co-production grants supported by the Allianz Foundation, Hakan Silahsızoğlu (founder and director of ATTA Festival, Istanbul's only international arts festival for babies and children) and Muckemacher (Verena Roth & Florian Erlbeck), the Berlin-based children's music duo, were brought together as a resident tandem at the Tarabya Cultural Academy. For their collaboration, Ayşe Draz was invited as a dramaturg and creator to co-devise an original children's play, weaving live music and theatrical storytelling across Turkish and German artistic perspectives.
The work was first presented as a work in progress at the end of the residency, after which the team was commissioned to further develop and present the piece as part of the Tarabya Sommerfest 2024, held on June 8 at the German Ambassador's summer residence. The evening was opened by Ambassador Jürgen Schulz and Goethe-Institut Secretary General Johannes Ebert, and attended by around 1,200 guests, featuring work by 21 current and past residents alongside 19 co-production partners from Turkey.
