Written and Directed by Şahika Tekand | Studio Oyuncuları
Ayşe Draz served as Assistant Director on this ambitious international co-production, working alongside director and performer Şahika Tekand, founder of Studio Oyuncuları and one of Turkey's most significant theatrical voices.
How to Forget in 10 Steps (Anti-Prometheus) is a contemporary reimagining of the Prometheus myth as a tragedy of modern complicity. The play traces man who, surrendering his capacity to act in the world, exchanges his great hopes and long-term visions for the small comforts and short-term rewards offered by the system, becoming not a prisoner of it, but a willing one. The challenge between performer and the raw elements of the stage, light, sound, scenery, becomes the very grammar of this resignation.
Produced by Stiftung Zollverein in collaboration with Athens Festival and Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture, the production toured internationally across Greece, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, and Brazil, including performances at the Athens & Epidauros Festival, MITsp São Paulo, and 0090 Antwerp.
