İKİ (Two) Dance Theater

İKİ is a dance theatre work conceived, written, and directed by Semih Fırıncıoğlu. Ayse Draz served as both assistant director and performer in the production.

Freed from the demands of narrative, theme, and coherence, İKİ sets out to construct an essay wholly focused on its own reality; its form shaped by unexpected combinations of visual and sonic design. Fırıncıoğlu draws the text from strikingly varied sources: the Old Testament, aphorisms, poetry, and the Saatli Maarif Takvimi, weaving direct quotations with original material.

The work was developed and first presented at BomontiAlt, Istanbul in fall 2017 within the Alt+ guest artist programme, before transferring to Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat's performance space Loca in May 2018. In 2019, İKİ was selected for Heidelberg Stückemarkt and presented there in May, 2019.
