Always Side by Side – Stage at the Museum, Sakıp Sabancı Museum
The main stage on the Fıstıklı Terrace, one of Istanbul's most breathtaking outdoor stages, hosted four productions: Yaşamaya Dair, staged by Dostlar Tiyatrosu with the legendary Genco Erkal in the lead role; Harika Şeyler Listesi, (Turkish Adaptation of Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe) a Talimhane Tiyatrosu production starring the acclaimed young actor Bora Akkaş; Herkes Kocama Benziyor, by Kadıköy Emek Tiyatrosu, led by Pınar Güntürkün, named Best Actress at the 2022 Afife Theatre Awards; and N'Olcak Bu Yusuf Umut'un Hali, Tiyatro Hemhal's widely celebrated production starring Hakan Emre Ünal.
Children's programming was presented by ATTA Festival, a social enterprise rooted in children's rights to arts and culture, with Bully Bully and Çık Dışarı for young and baby audiences. The garden and museum spaces hosted a rich surrounding program: Olsa Olmalı Olabilir, Tiyatro BeReZe's adaptation of Sure Thing by David Ives, a play pointing to the infinite possibilities and humor hidden within a single situation; günbatımı melodrama, a spatial adaptation of a dance performance produced under Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat's "Istanbul's Ulysses" project, directed by Melih Kıraç; Yaşayan Anlatılar, a storytelling performance by story-teller, educator and writer Nazlı Çevik Azazi, built around Agnes Denes's Living Pyramid and accompanied by music by Faysal Macit and Serdar Avcıoğlu; and Atlı Köşk'ün Ses Deneyimi, a site-specific sound workshop by sound designer and researcher Dr. Oğuz Öner, weaving together sound meditation, sound walks, and sound mapping exercises tuned to the sonic landscape of the Atlı Köşk.
